Making a tendon repair in vitro injury
Dr. Delphine DuprezLa tendon regeneration is one of the most important challenges in medicine. Currently, most studies focus on mechanisms of formation of muscles and bones, little research focuses on the training of tendons and we are desperately short of information on the mechanisms involved
The area where the tendons are attached to the bone called the enthesis. During aging, this region is an area of weakness that is often torn. Today, we know a sutured tendon in full body but it is not repair the enthesis.
This research team has an international reputation as regards the analysis of the mechanisms of formation of tendons during embryonic development. They will use this expertise to try to make a tendinous structure in vitro from cells or even non-specialized stem cells. The goal is to achieve eventual transplantation in patients who have loss of tendon substance. "
