Exercise And Memory

Monday, July 19, 2010

The studies have also proved that proper physical exercise can improve your memory. Your brain is just like any other physical organ. To keep it healthy, you have to make sure it gets enough oxygen and other nutrients. Daily physical activity will increase the flow of them to the brain. When the brain doesn’t get enough oxygen, the ability to concentrate is decreased. You know that without concentration, one can’t learn new information easily or recall what is studied. Robert sweet gall is a very famous fitness expert. He says, “Exercise helps oxygenate (supply oxygen to) the brain.

This supply makes it function better. Even walking 15 minutes a day will help you focus better.” It is also proved that physical activity actually grows new brain cells (neurons) in the hippocampus. The hippocampus is a major part of the brain responsible for memory power. The supply of oxygenated blood is very necessary for the brain. That is why the function of the brain becomes better when a person does exercise. Some of the best exercises are brisk walking, dancing, skipping, jogging, cycling etc.
