There is a strong link between meditation and memory. Latest studies show that regular meditation changes the physical structure of your brain. As a result, it improves memory. The brain’s cerebral cortex thickens when one does regular meditation. It is mainly because the size of the blood vessels increases. In addition to that, the amount of blood flowing to the region also increases. The most important fact is that cortex is a very important part of the brain. It is responsible for the higher mental functions. Meditation increases your ability to pay attention to something for a long time. It also sharpens your concentration and improves memory. If you start the day with a few minutes of meditation, you feel more focused during the day. Meditation leaves you feeling refreshed, and your mind is clearer. Yoga assists in improving memory power through yogic techniques of concentration and meditation. The brain functions of attention, recollection etc. improved by yoga. There are many yogic practices like asana, pranayama, meditation and ohm chanting. They increase the circulation of blood to the brain. You know that these techniques are very useful in calming down the mind. As a result, they will improve your concentration skills. It is also said that memory lapses can also be prevented through yogic practices because; yoga improves the power of recall.
